My little bronze bowl

Ok, so I have no idea how so many days end up going by between postings. I keep vowing to blog at least once a week, but somehow, time just keeps running away from me. I think it has something to do with my adorable, almost 8-month old, now crawling, lovable little terror. I take my eyes off her for a *second* and she’s across the room, ready to pull down a floor lamp. But I digress.
My little bowl
What I really wanted to post about this time was the bowl I’m making in my current silversmithing class. I wanted to show you this little object that I’m so proud of. I don’t know, maybe it doesn’t look like much…but let just me say that this little thing pictured here started off as nothing more than a flat, square sheet of metal. I’ve been hammering the crap out of it 3 hours at a time, week after week. This is the only picture of it that I’ve taken so far, so sadly you can’t see what it’s evolved from. But each week, I sit there and pound away at it until my hands are buzzing from the impact. I get so hungry from the workout that I almost always have a second dinner when I get back home. I’m 2 classes away from being finished. Off to my class now…

Thanks, Catherine :) It's actually finished now and looks a little different. I need to get around to posting a new pic of it.

Oh my gosh! Did you learn this from Julia Woodman? I've got a copper bowl I did in her class that looks very, very similar!
