trunkt!

Yes! I got accepted into trunkt. For those of you who don’t know what it is, trunkt.org is an online guide to independent artisans and designers. It’s not a marketplace, but rather a showcase for buyers and bloggers to find handmade art. The jewelry section is very competitive, so I was really excited to get accepted right away :) There are some tremendously talented and creative artists on trunkt and I’m proud to be in their company.

Chalice Well silver pendant

UPDATE:

I've updated my Chalice Well pendant. Here's the new design, available now in my Etsy shop:

Chalice Well Pendant

------------------------------------------------------------------

I’ve been meaning to blog about this for days now. But apparently life with a 6 month old makes it impossible to keep up with a to-do list! Here’s an entry about the inspiration behind one of my recent pieces.

Well, here she finally is - my Chalice Well pendant:

Chalice Well pendant

This pendant is based on a design found on a 2000-year-old sacred well located in Glastonbury, England. I had the opportunity to visit England and Wales in 2006, and Glastonbury was the highlight of the trip. You may have heard about Glastonbury being a magical place, and it’s really no exaggeration. The town is rich in history and legend and is the modern-day site of the famed, mystical Isle of Avalon.

Surrounded by beautiful gardens near the base of the Glastonbury Tor, you’ll find the Chalice Well. The well has been in continuous use for over 2000 years, and standing near it you really feel a connection to the ancient world. That's me standing there behind the well cover.

On the well head and on my pendant, you can see two intersecting circles known as the vesica piscis. This is a sacred geometrical symbol representing the union of spirit and matter. It is a symbol of the feminine divine making it both beautiful and meaningful.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Chalice Well and with this pendant, I hope I’ve captured a little bit of its magic.
