And it feels like she's going off to college...

We are living a huge milestone at our abode today. Our little SweetPea is heading off for her first day at preschool. She is so excited about "pwee school", it's all she's been talking about. I wonder what she's imagining it will even be...?

First day of preschool

Having never sent her to daycare, this is kind of a huge deal for us.

First day of preschool

I think it's going to be so good for her (and me). She's such a social little girl. She loves making new friends, and she loves to learn new things.

Let's get back to the "me" part for a second, shall we? Can I just put it out there that I am so excited to have 9 hours of guaranteed uninterrupted creative time each week now? (she'll be at school 3 mornings a week for 3 hours) Imagine the possibilities. I am imagining them right now...

wait, still imagining... (it's going to be great!)

But then I'm back to the reality of what this day means. This is the beginning of letting her go into the big, big world without her little hand in mine. It makes my heart achy to think about it.

First day of preschool

But it also means the start of me being able to take some time for me. The studio awaits. My silver is calling to me. My hands feels desperate to make something new.

And that's what I'll try to think about on this kind of difficult, but momentous day.

So very cute! Mine are off to college already, but my youngest niece just started K and was so excited although some of that enthusiasm disappeared when she discovered it was five days a week, LOL. She's been strutting around talking about how she's such a big girl now and had to show off all her new school clothes. They're adorable at that age.

Hope you have fun in the studio!

I love that you have a SweetPea too :) I must be the only heartless parent on earth. I never cried the first time my SweetPea went to daycare when she was 3 months old. Once I had my son, I kept her home with me and when they started preschool a couple of months ago, I didn't cry then either! I miss them during the day, but I love having a little time to myself to get my jewelry and sewing done.

Nah, AlyGatr, it doesn't make you a heartless parent. I just think some of us are more emotional than others, but that has nothing to do with how great a parent you are.

I remember that day well. It still makes me sad...and she's 24 now! Its hard.
But on the other hand you will quickly get used to that free time to create.
