First day of Fall...?

The epic rain fall here in Atlanta that I blogged about yesterday (you can see pictures I took of some of the local flooding on my Flickr page) has ended, and the sun has been shining brightly all day, thankfully.

In other news, heard a rumor, via my calendar, that today is the first day of Autumn.

Autumn, huh? I stepped outside to have a looksee.

Greenness abounds on the first day of Fall
The trees on our property are as green and summery as ever.

This Canadian girl is suffering from cognitive dissonance, as there's not a turning leaf to be seen anywhere. How can it be Autumn when greenness abounds and the weather is so warm that I know there won't be a need for scarflettes for months to come?

Looking for evidence of Autumn
I searched for evidence of the changing season.

There's got to be yellow somewhere...

We live in the Washington DC area...and as I sat outside with our cat, leaves began to fall and he ran inside spooked!

Great photos!

Great post!! And so true. I love the south, but love fall as well, and it's a curse to adore both. Cannot wait for ripped jeans and scarves.

PS- My husband is in Atlanta on a photo shoot this week and it sounds like the rain was very impressive. Another southern gift . . . those hurricane remnants that pass through. Aack.

Ha! Well, at least you can enjoy some sun and green for a little while longer.
It's sunny here in Vancouver too... but yes, the leaves are a changing.
