Work in Progress Wednesday - Halloween and Fall designs are in the pipeline

I've got lots of new and fun stuff in the works for Halloween and Fall.  We're well into September now, and the stifling humidity here in Atlanta is dissipating by the day. This is hands down, my favorite part of the year.

Today's blog post is about the first of my Halloweeny/Fallish series.  Kind of a looksy at the work in progress of the Cauldron pendant, and a sneak peek at some of the other drawings that will become pendants in another week or so.

Enjoy!

Cauldron pendant in sterling silver - original hand drawn art
Part of a series of special limited edition (and very reasonably priced) charms I'll be offering this season.

Working on drawings for new Halloween and Fall charms
The beginning of each piece goes from being an idea in my brain, to a doodle with my hand, to an actual pencil drawing on paper.

See that bar of Swiss Hazelnut Chocolate on the left?
See that chocolate bar to the left?  Hazelnut Swiss milk chocolate.  And an integral part of the process, is what I say.

Cauldron
Cauldron.

The bat on the bottom left looked too much like a certain superhero's logo, so I redid it above
I decided to redo the bat.  The one on the bottom looked too much like a certain superhero's logo. I like the one on top much better, don't you think? He's not quite finished yet, though.

Cauldron, etched, formed, and patinated
Back to the Cauldron.  The design was etched in sterling silver, cut, filed, and oxidized.

Polishing up the cauldron
The final step is polishing off the patina from the raised parts of the design.

In the spirit of all things witchy and good
Actually, the *real* final step is wearing it :)

Gorgeous pendant! I wish my skills extended into the metalworking area. Alas, I think I'm stuck with 2D, 'safe' work. Can't wait to see more!

I love how you have pictures of your designs, then the process and then the complete look of the piece! It's a great way of showing each item!
