The Great Costume Caper

Previously on IstanbulDesigns.com/blog...

Time was lost track of, days of the week mixed up.

Fabric stores were sold out of inexpensive Halloween materials.

One crafty Mama with limited, self-taught sewing skills had ambitions of being Martha Stewart-ish.

 Procrastination ruled the day.

And deadlines were fast approaching.

Ready. Set. Sew!

then...

The Singer was pulled out of its box.

Bobbins were wound. Needles were threaded.

Fabric was unfurled and pinned and cut.

Trying to decipher instructions in "sewing language"
Patterns and instructions were puzzled over. ("What do these words even mean?!")

Problems were troubleshooted, and mistakes averted.

Heeeeeere we go!

Seams were basted, trims were top-stitched, and
interfacing was put into place.

Final fitting

Measurements were taken, fingers pricked by needles.

Finished costume

Miracles happened.

Sighs of relief were breathed that the final result
didn't end up looking like a starry potato sac (as had been feared).

...and...

One Sweet Little Witch, with cauldron and broomstick, ready for the preschool parade
One most exceptionally adorable girl's Halloween wish
of being a "wittle witch" came true.

Wow, that is amazing! Not at all like a potato sack, it looks perfect. Your 'puzzled' picture is so funny, and that last picture is adorable. I'm so impressed!

Thanks, T. I always say "I may not be able to do math, but can speak lots of languages and do anything with my hands" ha ha :)

See, just as I start feeling good about my meager sewing skills, you totally trump me! I planned my witches costume well in advance and yours turned out way fancier than mine. SO cute :)
