What's on the menu Monday and other random stuff
Mmm, good food. I love making it as much as I love eating it. Every Sunday I try to plan ahead a week's worth of recipes, and do my groceries based on the list ok, let's be real, some weeks I do this with success, and other weeks we eat a lot of Trader Joe's. I thought I'd share this week's.
Tonight: Wild mushroom risotto (made with freshly created chicken stock. Tune in tomorrow for a How To Tuesday post with my step-by-steps on chicken stock) Gosh, how is this jewelry blog turning into a cooking blog?
Tuesday: Pureed butternut squash soup with creme fraiche along with savory cheddar French toast
Wednesday: Apple braised turkey thighs, and roasted acorn squash with cinnamon butter
Thursday: My Birthday! November 19th. Girlfriends come over to celebrate my 35th and the release of Beaujolais Nouveau 2009. And I'll make tasty French treats for them such as freshly baked gougeres and other deliciousness.
And my Jonathan is taking me out to a fancy schmancy restaurant on Friday night, so no cooking there.
In other randomness:
In other randomness:
A trio of wild turkey hens paid us a visit
no they're not on the menu
no they're not on the menu
It was just a quick hello and goodbye
anddddd off they strolled to their next destination
Happy Monday to all. I'll have some jewelry stuff and cooking how-to business to show you tomorrow.

I've never seen wild turkeys on a paved street before. I look forward to the recipe(s).
Sounds like you have a yummy week ahead :)
BTW, I grew up in Atlanta and really miss the tall trees. (A tall tree here is 20 feet.) I love seeing the pics on your blog.
Will we be seeing wild turkey on next weeks menu? ;) Julia
HAPPY B.DAY for THURSDAY! :)
Menu sounds so yummy!
I am successfully losing weight, now I do not have to cook massive meals for growing teenagers every night and I am so excited to eat simpler.
Enjoy your B.Day celebrations :)
Regards, T.
Carol: The funny thing is they visited us last October, too. Out of the blue. We have no idea where they came from or where they went. And, you're right, the tall trees in Atlanta are pretty amazing.
Julia: That would be funny!
T: Thank you for the birthday wishes, and congratulations on your weight loss. Yay!
An early Happy Birthday!!! Damn, one more person younger than me :( Seeing your pics reminded me of when I lived in Boston. There were wild turkeys who lived near one of the buildings I used to work at and they were SO territorial...they would chase you down!
Wow, your dinner menus are SO exotic...not like mine which usually include "something with chicken in it" with a side of "some veggie out of a can"
mmm... your menus sound delish! And wow, I have never seen wild turkeys before... do they just roam the neighborhood? How neat... and a bit dangerous at this time of year.
