Never say never - New Rules

Running is my life. It's part of what defines me.

Ever since I moved to Atlanta 5 years ago, my running has been inconsistent. The summer heat is unbearable here, let me say it again - unbearable. The hills in my neighborhood are too many and too steep (shinsplints, anyone?). My daughter's gotten too big to push in a jog stroller. Ah, the list of excuses goes on and on. The bottom line is, I don't run as often as I wish I could.

But I am a road runner.
With 4 international marathons under my belt so far, I've always said I'd never own a treadmill.  Treadmills are boring. Treadmills don't offer the same awesome challenges as hills and weather conditions and the like.
But never say never.
A quality treadmill placed in front of a television offers you the opportunity to work out any time of the day, with no excuses.

So, meet Trudy - our new treadmill.  She is solid and sturdy and strong - just the qualities I look for in an inanimate object that costs me a small fortune.

Special delivery - 300lb treadmill
Special delivery - 300 lb treadmill.

Here she comes
Moving her from the garage to the basement was a workout in itself.

New Rule - I can only watch trashy TV if I'm on the treadmill
The best part is my New Rule:
I can only watch trashy TV if I'm on the treadmill.

I see myself doing a lot more of both in the near future.
I love garbage television, and I love to run.

Happy Monday everyone!

ENVY, ENVY, ENVY! I am so jealous of your cool running space. We have a community center about a 5 minute walk from home. Texas...like Georgia, gets wicked hot...so when it's hot, I do the treadmill too. I prefer running outside, but need good scenery...and cool temps. I don't mind the treadmill as long as I have good tunes...or like you said, something trashy to watch :) On the days the kids are in preschool, I run at the center and watch old Charmed reruns!

Here in Michigan it's the cold that keeps us from exercising outside and personally my bad knees from too many years of gymnastics and long distance running. So I, too, am envious!

Trudy is one beautiful machine :)

I am like you I am not a big fan of running on treadmills but we do what we have to to make it work.

I just starting running again after an 8 year hiatus, there literally was no time or energy with 3 kids at home but now ...........:)

Have fun running, looking good :) T.

Yes I have lived in Georgia my whole life and I meet runners all the time who come here who just can't go as far in the Georgia humid heat.
(I also have a lot of friends from Africa who wonder why it is so hot here lol Darn Humidity)

But I'm happy you have found a nice alternative :)
