Playing catch, and catching up
The blog posts have been kind of few and far between around here all of 2010, huh? I went from posting 4-5 times a week to what now seems like once a week. Hmmm.
Blogging for me is kind of like exercising. The more often I do it, the more often I know I will do it. But once I fall off the wagon, I'm alllll the way off. Good thing it's easy for me to get back on.
Really though, for as long as I've had my jewelry business, January has always been my take-it-easy month. Come, take a listen to what I tell myself in my mind...did you hear that? "Just take it easy today, Alice. You can work tomorrow instead". When you're your own boss, you can do stuff like that.
These past few weeks I've been spending a lot of one-on-one time with my daughter. We've resumed our regular playdates with friends (playdates from which we were on jewelry-business-imposed-hiatus since the fall). All month we've been ultra busy doing puzzles, having Play-Doh parties by the way, when did Play-Doh get so fun? and playing catch outside in this lovely June-like weather we're having here in Atlanta.
Thus my absence from the blogosphere.
But, although I haven't been blogging, I've been working in other ways. I've been putting a lot of ideas to paper for new designs. I'm really excited to show you some of them. I have in mind to branch out in all sorts of brand new directions. If I announce my ideas to you now, I'll be more apt to follow through on them: I'd like to make a few hollow formed pieces (lockets, big rings) that open and close with hinges, and have little secret elements inside. I'm also currently designing a monstrously magnificent cuff bracelet, embellished with 18k gold swirls and colorful stones. In my mind it looks like a Gustav Klimt painting on my forearm. Look for that in mid-February.
Oh by the way, I forgot to blog about something very important last weekend: My zodiac pendants have finally, finally been listed in my Etsy shop.
They look amazing and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. The pendants have a deliciously weighty feel to them, and the thick chain makes them all the richer.
I'm so proud of this new line. These are like no other zodiac pendants you'll ever see out there, and each one is from my own hand drawn picture.
You can check them out here.
What else....?....
I've been thinking about doing a give-away here. I think the One Must Have Sunshine ring (see my previous blogpost) would look beautiful as a necklace. So...look for my first-ever blog giveaway...let's say next week. Yeah, that sounds good...next week.
Oh, speaking of blog giveaways, my friend Jess of Rosy Revolver (she makes the most incredible jewelry) is having one right now. Go, go, go to her blog and enter. Spread the word far and wide - the more you do, the more chances you have of winning the stunning piece she has up for grabs. She is so phenomenally talented. I love her. Go check it out. You'll see what I mean.
That's it for today. I do believe we're all caught up now.
Ok, now please have yourself a wonderfully beautiful day. And I shall do the same :)

Ooohhh--I adore lockets and things I can stash herbs or even scents in--so very exciting!!
You've been missed! I have to say though, I can only imagine you were insane busy during the holidays and it's nice that you are able to take some time just to hang with your little SweetPea :)
LOVING the zodiac necklaces. I have a hard time finding Scorpio symbols that I really like and I LOVE yours. Now I have 10 months to save my pennies...or maybe to beg someone to buy it for me for my next birthday!!!
its great that you are spending time with your daughter, they grow up so fast! Great blog
She's growing up so fast. I blink, and poof! there go 6 months. I have my entire life to make jewelry, but my child will only be a child once. And so, I try my best to find a balance.
Alyssa, Scorpio girl, there will be a pendant with your name on it in 10 months.
Oh I love your new line! very cute!
Stunning necklaces.
You know I'm going to HAVE to have a hinged locket-poison-ring type piece this year.
And bring on the giveaway! In fact, bring it on right now. Don't wait. Now. This second. Giveaway. Pronto. Now.
NOW.
And I love you too.
I'm done commenting, I promise. :)
Love your works. Gorgeous necklaces! I totally understand how you feel especially in January when sales are expected to be low after the busy holidays in Nov/Dec.
God Bless
